The Martin County FNRA Becomes A "High Caliber Club"
February 1, 2014
The Treasure Coast Friends of NRA is now a High Caliber Club Committee! Earning this status means joining an exclusive group of committees that have taken Friends of NRA fund-raising to the next level. To earn the title, a committee must raise over $25,000 at their event, thus making that committee eligible for a series of High Caliber Club firearms and other merchandise.
Jennifer L. Williamson Wins 2013 Volunteer of the Year
February 1, 2014
Congratulations to our very own committee member Jennifer L. Williamson, Esq. for winning the 2013 South Florida FNRA Volunteer of the Year Award! When Jennifer Williamson sets her mind to accomplish something, it’s best to join in or get out of her way. Williamson, a partner at Crary Buchanan Law Firm, brings not only a single-mindedness to each project she takes on, but a level of organization and attention to detail that others could only wish to attain. Friends of NRA is thankful that Jennifer has chosen to turn her attention to us!
Several years ago, Jennifer convinced her partners at Crary Buchanan to institute a novel client appreciation event, shooting sporting clays; her skill at organizing the event led many charitable organizations in the area to ask her to organize their fundraising shooting events. Williamson undertook each request with grace and enthusiasm, never looking for the spotlight or any publicity for her involvement. Just the opposite – Jennifer would much rather continue her job behind the scenes than come out for a photo opportunity! Williamson’s enthusiasm and skills have not gone unnoticed by those she helps – in 2011, Jennifer was named Volunteer of the Year by Hibiscus Children’s Center.
For the last five years, Williamson has brought that same level of involvement to Martin County Friends of NRA (now known as Treasure Coast Friends of NRA). Jennifer has been tireless in seeking opportunities to increase the visibility of the Friends of NRA, and scarcely has one banquet ended when she has started planning for next year’s event. She has attended the Friends of NRA National Event, as well as the banquets for several other Friends of NRA chapters, always on the search for ideas which will improve our event. In addition to our chapter, she assists the Okeechobee Chapter with their event each year. Jennifer (and husband Rodney Carden) collects spent shotgun shells throughout the year in order to have enough (and the right colors!) to make the centerpieces for the tables at our event. For much of the year, her dining room table is covered with items she has collected for use in the Silent Auction or the Bucket Event at the banquet. For months prior to the event, Williamson has information about the banquet with her at all times; many times while out at lunch, folks from the community ask Jennifer about the banquet (or other FNRA events) and she cheerfully gives them the information, followed up with a handout and a reminder that tickets are most easily purchased online. Due in large part to her dedication, this chapter has gone from raising $6,000 per year to over $35,000 in just three years. Jennifer would tell you that it’s a group effort, but the group says we are lucky to have her!
When not bringing her considerable talents to FNRA or providing excellent legal service to her clients, Jennifer is caring for the menagerie of animals she and Rodney have at home – goats, dogs, hens, guinea fowl and a dearly loved pig named Daisy. She manages all aspects of her life with the same aplomb and organization that she brings to event planning, and we here at TCFNRA could not be happier to have her on our team.
The Treasure Coast Friends of NRA is delighted to announce that Jennifer Williamson has been named Southern Florida Volunteer of the Year by Friends of NRA. When you see her, tell her congratulations!
